Eco-friendly Tips From An American Perspective – Can It Work In Japan?

The world is experiencing adverse effects of global warming and most Governments are creating policies that would make them adapt to eco friendly approach to life. America has made gains in that; they are taking the lead in living green in order to protect the environment. The effect of global warming has caused overwhelming negative effects to the environment through the floods, unusual snowing during winter, landslides and tsunamis etc.

This article will explain some of the eco-friendly tips that America has adopted that can also work in Japan. Both countries are committed in ensuring that the environment is well protected in order to save it from decadence. In America, families are now turning to car-pooling or public transport when going to work and with these, they will be fewer vehicles on the road which will reduce air pollution, Japan despite its large population, has developed their public transport system to be very efficient and fast making more people to commute hence saving the environment from pollution. Both Countries have built pedestrian lanes where you can ride your bike and save the environment from pollution caused when driving a car.

America has adopted the use of organic and local foods like potatoes, rice, vegetables, fruits which are eco friendly and are planted and no fertilizer chemicals used on them; this too can work in Japan because they love local foods like soya beans, mushrooms, rice, and vegetables. In Japan, they are developing new eco-friendly manufacturing units for instance the Toyota Company is among the largest producers of motor vehicles and they have built an Eco company which manufactures vehicles that are fuel efficient and produce little or no emissions. America has been the leader in adapting eco friendly programs in the manufacturing industry for instance companies like Ford, General Motors are embracing eco manufacturing systems.

In America, the housing sector has adopted green technology in building houses, and these too can be done in Japan. Below is a list of other eco friendly tips which I believe Japan can do to improve their environment.

  • Recycling of plastics, glass, and paper. Most American cities have this service.
  • Planting trees which reverse the effects of global warming.
  • Most US cities pay their bills online and this saves trees that could have been cut down to manufacture paper.
  • Using eco friendly shopping bags instead of paper bags which are not easily disposed.
